Vedic Speed Math is a course for kids of growing age groups to learn to not only calculate fast but also to learn about the principles of Vedic Mathematics. The idea of the course is not to give hundreds of techniques that are equally difficult compared to the traditional techniques that we’re providing an alternative to, but to provide a few sets of techniques that work and are genuinely fast compared to the traditional methods.
For example, speed multiplication when the sum of the digits is a multiple of 10. The principle in practice below is: Ekadhikina Purvena
Multiplying two numbers near to a base using Nikhilam Sutra
Calculate 17* 16
17 – 4 or 16 – 3 (across) will give LHS 13
But, we’re calculating from 20, so LHS will become 26.
RHS is multiplication on the right side 3 x 4 = 12
LHS (26) and RHS (12) joined to become 272.
Calculate 27 x 29
LHS is 26 * 3 = 78
RHS is 1*3 = 3
Answer is 783
Calculate 76 x 78
LHS calculation is (76-2) or (78-4) = 74
Multiply 74 x 8 = 592
LHS is 592
RHS is 2×4 = 8
Answer is 5928
Multiplying two distant numbers using Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam
Calculate 25 x 42
Calculate 36 x 72
Hope this is useful, thank you.
